Project Highlights

Jack Frost.jpg

Former Jack Frost Sugar House

Former industrial waterfront site occupying fifteen (15) acres.  Twelve (12) buildings were multilevel built in the early 1900’s for the purpose of manufacturing sugar. The building housed huge cooking vessels and boilers which were insulated with thick block/high percentage amosite asbestos.  The entire site was abated and decontaminated (2,500 tons of asbestos hauled away) and structures were then imploded.  Synertech provided Asbestos air monitoring during removal; conduct weekly progress meetings.  Dust control monitoring prior and during implosions.

Spectrum.jpg

Former Wachovia Spectrum

Synertech performed the pre-demolition hazardous material survey of this iconic Philadelphia sports arena.  Synertech identified and quantified asbestos containing materials, lead-based paint, PCB, and mercury that needed to be remediated before demolition.  Synertech generated the needed City of Philadelphia Asbestos Inspection Report (A.I.R.) and also developed the asbestos abatement scope of work for the removal phase.  We provided project management and air monitoring oversight during the environmental hazard remediation.  This paved the way for the new XFinity Live Philadelphia Entertainment Complex.  Synertech Incorporated was excited and honored to be part of reshaping and revitalizing the Sports Complex District.

Former Philadelphia Naval Hospital

Synertech performed pre-demolition investigation of the landmark thirteen story Philadelphia Navy Hospital building and fifty building surrounding complex for asbestos containing materials, lead-based paint, PCB, and mercury. We provided project management and inspection during a four month period of environmental remediation.  Synertech Incorporated also provided the implosion dust control plan and performed related air monitoring as required by the City of Philadelphia.  This projected cleared the way for the Novacare Complex — home of the Philadelphia Eagle’s practice facility.

Former Frankford Arsenal

Between April 2011 and July 2014, performed comprehensive asbestos survey throughout two dozen buildings and more than one mile of subsurface pipe tunnels on a 45-acre property prior to planned building demolition and site development.  The total building area surveyed exceeded 250,000 square feet.  All survey and reporting tasks were completed over a 30-day period, prior to EPA review.  Prepared asbestos abatement specifications to solicit asbestos abatement contractor bids.  Provided air monitoring and inspection services over 3 years during pre-demolition asbestos removal.  Served as environmental liaison for the owner in formal meetings with the EPA and the City of Philadelphia Air Management Services.  Instrumental in significantly reducing owners’ asbestos abatement budget.

Vet Stadium.jpg

Former Veterans Stadium

Synertech provided air quality and dust monitoring during the implosion of another landmark of Philadelphia – Veterans Stadium.  Our industrial hygienists and project managers insured compliance with City of Philadelphia Guidelines for respirable dust, TEM asbestos and lead dust wipe sampling parameters.  The demolition of this iconic facility paved the way for the new parking facility for the new home of the Philadelphia Phillies – Citizens Bank Park.
